Formatting Imported Work

Hi there. I was importing my work from reedsy and was wondering if there was a way to import an item that came over as a word document with dedicated chapters into Scrivener with those chapters already sorted? I’ve been going in manually into my document and copy and pasting the chapters into different folders but I wanted to know if there was a better way?

File/Import/Import and Split is your friend! If the Word document has actual levels for chapters and not just bigger fonts for their headings Import and Split will transfer the structure into Scrivener’s Binder.

Or with import and split, in your Word document you can use a character to denote the scene/chapter split # is the default.

There is also a function to split, which creates a new document at split point.
Documents / Split / at Selection ← no need for a selection ; it’ll split at cursor position.

If your original document doesn’t have anything usable as a split mark for Scrivener to do it for you at import, at least you wouldn’t have to create the new documents yourself (like I understand you are doing) and copy paste in them.
