Giving my Windows license to a new user

I 've been happily using Scrivener for Windows for a couple of years but I switched to a Macbook recently.
I had to buy a new license for the Mac so now my Windows license is left unused.
Can I give it to another Windows user by just sending them the serial number and letting them register on their trial version? Is it as simple as that? Will they be able to register using their own details?
I’ve made research on the forum and didn’t find the answer to that specific question.
Thanks a lot.

As long as you are no longer using the license, yes, you can just give the information to another user. They’ll need to register using your details, though. (There’s a checksum built into the serial number.)

For the longer term, please send us an email so that we can update our database to reflect the new user information for that license. Among other things, that will make sure that a future license retrieval request matches the actual user.

Thank for that quick response Katherine.
I will let this topic open for other users unless you think otherwise.
I must add I really enjoy this Mac version a lot better than the Windows’. I don’t see a lot of differences in regard of functions, but is seems somewhat clearer and more convenient overall.
Thanks again.

I think there are GDPR / Identity Theft issues in there somewhere.

GDPR requires that you hold correct data about a living person. Using another person’s name in the licence is not correct information.

If the person who purchased the license wishes to transfer it to another person, and we update our database to reflect that, what is the issue?
