Gutter and margins - this is driving me nuts

I thought Scrivener would make my writing ewasier BUT I am spending MOST of my time trying to set margins and intents so that the page resembles WORD in appearance and function.

When I export, the right side of the pages is CUT OFF.
Please someone explain in common english how to accomplish what I want.

Getting close to ditching Scrivener.

LEAVE the margins alone. They work according to STANDARD page layouts, out of the BOX.
Do you EXPORT or COMPILE?

Scrivener is not designed to ‘resemble Word’.

It’s designed to focus on writing, and is not WYSIWYG. Easiest to set your output style in the Compile process, or compile to .docx/rtf and finish tarting it up in Word/Pages/Velum depending on platform

Thank you both for your responses. "Leave the margins alone,” and “… is not WYSIWYG.” Brilliant!
Knowing this, I went back and set to defaults. Much better.
Still, the app has a heck of a learning curve. I’m sticking with it.

Thanks again.

You can set and work in page view if you are more comfortable with this.
It’ll give you somewhat of an idea of how it’ll look on a page, but be aware that it is just an approximative mockup, since everything is potentially bound to change at compile.

Scrivener is designed for content creation first and foremost.
It is at compile that the way it’ll look is truly set. (What you gain out of the app being designed so is complete versatility.)

As for the learning curve: trust me (10+ years user), it is totally worth it.

I’ve shown you how to switch modes and set the page size, now, a word of advice:
Get used to doing without. It is better.

The only thing you need to know/understand to get writing is that in Scrivener the page only has a top and a left side.
The bottom and the right side are infinite. (Unless you are in page view.)
The content will always fit the editor and therefor by no means represents what you’ll get after compile. (Which is no issue at all once you get the hang of it.)
