Has anybody read, 'Fame Is the Spur', by Howard Spring?

Ive spent the past 50yrs, firmly convinced that I had. However, having recently been given a1940 printed edition of it, it came as quite a shock, to discover that I hadnt. I have now of course.

Vic,

I don’t know either the author or the book, but I looked him up on Wiki and think I’d like to read it. And see the film (1947), and apparently there was a BBC series (1982)? He reminds me a bit of R. F. Delderfield, who had a similar background as a journalist and wrote historical fiction that often promoted Liberal party politics, in the early 20th century, that is. I’ll have to hunt for copies.

Yes, a long time ago. I found it in a second-hand bookshop, alongside A Town Like Alice and On the Beach.
