Help - Can't open any projects after an upgrade

Hi, I upgraded to Scrivener 3.0.3 (3032) some time ago and then became very ill and didn’t use the program for a few years. I have opened it this morning to start work and it won’t open any of my projects. I get this error message:

The project at “/Users/xxx/Dropbox (xxx)/Writing/x Tales/xxx.scriv” seems to be of an older format, but no binder.scrivproj file could be found inside it. It may be missing or corrupt, possibly because of a problem with the device on which it is stored, or because of a synchronisation problem.

Try ctrl-clicking on the project in the Finder and selecting “Show Package Contents”, then look for a file entitled ‘binder.scrivproj’. Ensure it has not been renamed by a backup routine. If it does not exist, try restoring from a backup.BAckup and RTF file won’t open either.

I did that and can’t see a binder.scrivproj file. Any suggestions? I feel quite desperate. Thanks

Did you solve this? I’ve got the same issue. Thanks.

Make sure you have the latest version of Scrivener, which is 3.2.3. You can download it here: Download Scrivener | Literature & Latte

I have this problem and have the latest ver 3.4. I’m not able to open any of my custom templates or my projects!

The most common cause of this error is incomplete synchronization. Dropbox (or another service) “helpfully” “optimizes” your disk so that part of the project is stored exclusively on their server, where Scrivener can’t access it.
