Help request - splitting imports and commented documents

I’ve been looking through various threads and wonder if anyone can suggest a route forward…

My novel came back from the editor [93K]. The document is 100+ scenes in 38 chapters. It was written in Word, but to work on the edits, I need to be able to split it into individual scenes. I have ADHD + ASD (and other disabilities) so being able to easily toggle between the big picture outline and individual scenes, as well as move the scenes around, is why I’m hoping to move the document to scriv. I cannot manage multiple chapter folders with multiple short scenes in the way I need to otherwise.

Q1. I want to be able to import the doc so it splits into chapters, and also each chapter into separate scenes. Is there a way to do this, or am I going to have to manually subdivide?

Q2. Is there ANY way to import the comments left by the editor as actual comments, not as inserted text? It will be a huge extra barrier to need both Word and Scriv open simultaneously while I edit text, but I understand comments are problematic to convert?

Yes, and yes.

In Word, make sure your Chapter headers and Scene headers have an “Outline level” in the paragraph element of their Styles. File > Import > Import and Split on Document Structure.

Comments will Import as Comments, but Track and Trace changes do not. Resolve these in Word before the Import into Scrivener.
