How can I turn off auto capitalization in MacOs?

Hy, Everyone. I am trying to write some poetry and the app keeps turning my initial sentences to CAPITAL letters… I am using MacOs Version 3.4 (16639) . The other posts here in forum about this subject are quite old and none of them are helping since the options mentioned in them dont seem to appear on my screen.

also the app is in Portguese, how can I change it to English?
