I’m trying to use some italics within a document. The font I’m using is Myriad Pro, which seems to manage to show itself in italics within other applications like Word for OS X.
When in Scrivener, if I press command-I, or highlight text with the magic “I” for Italics, it claims to be changed to italics style but doesn’t actually visibly change. That is, it looks like plain old text.
I’m sure I’m doing something a) terribly wrong and b) excruciatingly obvious, so I thought I’d ask here Help?
Scrivener uses the OS text system, which looks for an actual italic variant of the font rather than just slanting the letters to fake italics the way Word will do. This sounds like you just don’t have an italic for the font installed on your system (or at least not accessible in your current user account), so I’d take a peek in Font Book and install that if necessary.
Well, that was proof that I was a) doing something terribly wrong and that b) the solution was excrutiatingly obvious Thanks very much for that - installing the italic variant of Myriad Pro made it work a treat. Brilliant!
