i want it to be the same size as the text, not be much bigger, it messes up my workflow
That’s when you right-click a note.

You can also auto-fit a bunch of notes at once by selecting them and (from the top menu) :

Last and least: you can adjust its size by dragging the side edge.
And in addition to manually resizing note(s) with the command, there is also a setting in File â–¸ Options...
(or Settings in the Scapple menu on Mac), General tab, to “Auto-size note”. All newly created notes will automatically shrink to fit the text, if it is shorter than the width given in the New Notes tab (which sets the word-wrap point, with this setting enabled).
But even with that setting, once you make a note and resize it, it will respect the size you used, and then you would need the menu command noted above.
