How do I stop the manuscript header from capitalizing my title?

When I compile the manuscript, it always capitalizes the entire title in the header. So it looks like:

Name / TITLE / 1

How do I stop it from capitalizing the title? In my compiling settings, the title is not capitalized in the metadata. How do I fix this?

Are you talking about the page header when you’re compiling to one of the two Manuscript (either Times or Courier) compilation formats?

If you do want to change it, the process is simple enough. Open the compile dialogue in the normal way, then

  1. If you haven’t already customised your chosen compilation format (e.g. Manuscript (Courier)), then right click on it and select Duplicate & Edit Format. (Obviously, if you already have customised the format, just right click on that and choose Edit Format…
  2. In the new dialogue that appears, choose Page Settings in the list on the left.
  3. Choose the Header & Footer Text panel.
  4. Click on the Main Body line, and you’ll see that the right hand bar under Header contains the following text: <$surname> / <$ABBR_PROJECTTITLE> / <$p>.

  1. All you need to do is change the case of the middle item (i.e. to <$abbr_projecttitle>) , then save and return to the main dialogue. Compile and your headers will no longer all be in capitals.

The screenshot if for macOS, but as far as I know, the process is the same on Windows.

HTH.
