I have different themes that have different background colors for the menu bar. I can’t find where to change that, though, in the Options / Appearance screens. Since it shows up differently in different themes I assume it’s customizable through the interface, but perhaps not? Guidance on this would be much appreciated!
In the Windows version the menu bar, menus and toolbars are colored using a Theme. Contrary to macOS Themes, in Windows you can rename a Theme saved to file from .scrtheme to .zip and unzip it with WinZip or 7zip.
The RGB color codes in the colour palette .pal and the stylesheet .qss determine the colour of the UI.
Thank you! That’s super helpful. I took a look at the files and think I can make sense of them—will experiment when I have a little time.
All I could read of your comment was “In the Windows version the menu bar, menus and toolbars are colored using a Theme. Contrary to macOS Themes, in Windows you can rename a Theme saved to file from .scrtheme to .zip and unzip it with WinZip or 7zip.

When I clicked on the “more icon” it didn’t expand your text, I’m guessing there was more to it but perhaps that was it? If there’s more would you try reposting?
Again thanks—super clear and succinct .
Actually there’s a lot more. So much, that it’s not possible to answer a question about Creating Themes without knowing what issues you run into. Better to wait for more questions. Alternatively, you can search this forum for others with similar questions or read a book that spends ten pages about this very subject.
Thanks! I sensed it was a big topic. I’m not going to start creating themes from scratch; what you’ve given me is enough to get started and probably accomplish what I need to. I’ll post more questions if I have them. And I just got your book on my Kindle. The sections on Themes and Compiling will be particularly useful. Great to have this resource for the latest version of Scrivener!
