How to compile to German "Normseite"

Hi there, what I do at the moment: I have created a compile setting with only the margins for Normseite. The rest I change in Word (Font, line spacing, sometimes line numbers) according to what I need. I see that less and less publishers are really strict on the topic.

Good luck!

Cheers, Johanna

Hi,

@Johanna: Well, yes, it is true that many publishers are not restricted to the “Normseite” any more if it is for a book, but it is still important for articles often paid per “Normseite” or for the price of corrections or proofreading.

Anyway, I was able to create a template for the compiler which fulfils the 30 lines with max. 60 characters (space included). It is attached. The font and size is what’s typically used or mentioned if the “Normseite” is discussed.

If there are any further adjustments needed, just let me know. Thanks.

Thanks a lot! This is great, I will try it out later. Thanks for sharing!

Hope it will work for you and the others.

Johanna, I hope you did well over the last weeks. Did you had the chance to test the “Normseite” template? I wonder if it works on other machiens as well?

Hi! Yes, I was able to import it and it works! In the last few months I have not needed the “Normseite”, but it is good to know I have a solution ready! Thanks a lot for tweaking and sharing! :slightly_smiling_face:

Perfect. Thanks for the feedback.

Well, I think something is wrong with my template anyway. I cannot get normpages with it at the moment. Don’t know why or what changed. How is it for others?

Mmm. Strange. I have not used it since I tried it in February, so I can’t say if it still works. But I can’t imagine why not? Updates should not interfere with the templates, or am I wrong?

I don’t know. Even if I download the template and use it, it shows a different output file. It has 13 lines and less words.

I need to investigate it further. Could be something related to the document itself since it’s a short story.

it would be really frustrating if this template is not working anymore.

Hi again. I just tried it quickly with a few pages. Problem ist, I have two Normseite templates in my compile, one is from you and one is something I tried myself. One gives me the correct margins and if I switch on line numbers, it sticks to 30 lines. With the other I end up with 31 lines. - With both I adjusted the line spacing in the Word Document, but that’s an easy fix. - Saying this, I am very inexperienced with the compile editor in Scrivener, as I do not use it a lot. So for me it is still easier to tinker with the compiled doc in Word than format it correctly via Scrivener compile.

Strange. It might be a problem on my Mac. I’ll see. Can you upload the two templates you are using?

Could it be a change in the printer settings? A slight change in the page width (be it in the Mac’s printer/page settings or Word’s) may cause the Normseite lines not to fit in completely.

Yes. The “Normseite” ist the one I got from you I think. The “Normseite Test” is my own feeble concoction.
