So I am now embarking on a major revision of an existing project (a novel) and rather than take snapshots of each individual chapter I’d rather make a copy of the entire project. I’ve already compiled a copy just in case, but what’s the best way to make a copy that I can then work on in Scrivener? Thanks so much.
In Finder, select the project and press Cmd-D (or from the Finder menu bar File > Duplicate),
Martin.
Thank you so much, Martin!
I knew there would be a fantastically straightforward fix.
I heart Scrivener.
Or, you can use File > Back Up > Back Up To…, which allows you to save a backup of the project.
All the best,
Keith
Thanks, Keith!
I like the duplicate option as it allows me to keep the older version handy in Scrivener (as opposed to stored on my hard drive or backup drive).
Actually there’s no functional difference. Back Up To… just creates a copy of the project (zipped up or not, depending on whether or not you tick the “ZIP” checkbox) to a location of your choice. It’s exactly the same as duplicating the file in the Finder and moving it to a location of your choice. But you should definitely use whichever you find easiest or most convenient, as both do the same thing.
All the best,
Keith
