Shenanigans with the new version I’m afraid. With a Note selected pressing Return used to create another empty note. Now, that action opens the selected note and a further Return deletes its content.
Using, as I thought, the expected Return action to brainstorm a new piece with head down, created nothing but confusion …

In the Windows version this isn’t the default behaviour, you have to set in on in the settings.
