How to set words target for a Folder?

I know how to set target for documents.

But I’d like to set words target for a folder (including many sub-documents),

is there any method to do that?

P.S. English is not my mother tongue, please try to understand my words,

thank you!

You can set a target for a folder the exact same way you do for an individual document.

Note, however, that this target is for the folder. That is, Scrivener’s statistics won’t necessarily report progress on the subdocuments as progress toward the folder target.

You’ll want to familiarize yourself with the “Total Words” and “Total Target” columns in the Outliner.

Thank you, Katherine!

The method I use for set target for document is click the right-bottom icon (Set the document word or character count target), but I can’t find this icon when I switch to Folder, there’re two icons, are Toggle center outliner content and Show or hide synopsis.

So, I don’t know the way you said exact same way for documents mean.

Please and thank you!

Could you post a screenshot, please, so I can understand what you’re seeing?

If you’re editing the folder document – that is, you’re not in Scrivenings mode – you’ll see the same footer that you do when editing a text document, including the “target” icon.

If you’re in Outline mode, you need to be one outline level up from the folder whose target you want to set. So, for instance, if you wanted to set folder targets for your Chapters, you should open the Draft folder in Outline view.

Katherine,

After read your reply, I think I’ve learnt how to setup target I need.

Thank you very much!
