Yesterday and this morning I helped a local widow, one of our walking group with problems after a power outage caused problems for her.
Her internet wouldn’t connect and she’d called the ISP who sent her a new modem. When she connected it, she’d used the power adapter from the old one, not noticing the LED was flashing. Quick fix connecting the power supply and reconnecting her smart tv’s etc to the new on and on my way. Late last night I get a call, her smart TV in the bedroom won’t connect to Netflix.
This morning go around and a little stumped until it occurred to me she’d written the WiFi password down incorrectly. All done and dusted and I noticed the Time Capsule next to the Modem had flashing LED. Pointed that out and asked if she’d like me to set it up for her and she said she was about to throw it out as never used it since her husband died. Offered to buy it but she insisted on giving it to me.
For those in the Windows wasteland, Time Capsule and Airport was Apple’s networking and automatic backup system hardware that was amazingly simple to set up. Millions rent their clothes etc when Apple exited that market.
Guess I owe her free tech support for a lifetime. ![]()
