So I wrote over 1,200 words today for a novel I am writing. I started the day by logging in on my MacBook Air, typed a little, then moved to my Mac. I had no issue doing this whatsoever, everything was there. Well, just now lol (I’m trying to to cry), I switched from my Mac to my MacBook and it wasn’t saved. So I reopen my file on my Mac, praying it will still be there, and nope. Everything is gone from today. The stuff I wrote last night and prior? Still there. But all of my stuff from today is gone. I spent HOURS writing it. I want to give up. Call me dramatic, but I feel true despair at the moment.
Check Scrivener’s automatic backups. On both machines. In particular, look for the backup that would have been made by default when you closed Scrivener on the Mac before switching back to the MacBook.
This is probably a dumb question, but how would I look at that? I just opened the file back up, like, from files and it was all gone. I tried the same with my MacBook and still, nothing.
never mind, I got it. thank you anyway!
Have you checked that Dropbox (or whatever cloud you are using) is set to Offline (or whatever they call it) and that syncing had completed before shutdown, and before open on the second computer?
