I would like to set up my outline, based on 3 outline categories that interrelate

Hello, thank you for reading my post. I am fairly new to Scrivener and Scapple.

I have been over the tutorial in Scrivener a few times, and watched the video for Scapple, (could not find the tutorial/demo/example of Scapples’ actual use start to finish like I could with Scrivener.)

What I want to do:

3 categories, that I can reference against each other in the ?corkboard? of Scrivener

  1. Year 2. Events 3. My writings

I am hoping to reference one year point to an event, then reference my writing to said event/year.

This way I can track and cross reference my writings to keep them accurate to the time line, and accurate to the events line as well. I hope to get it to worky backwards and forwards, reference from year to event to my writing, and from my writing to event timeline, and year timeline.

Even better, I would like to have a file flag for year, and event on the my writing piece.

Thank you for your time and energy in reading this. I am most grateful.

You may want to look at bookmarks (document bookmarks) where in the inspector you can add bookmarks to pertinent files. So if wrote in 2019 and had an event Covid could drag covid file into document bookmarks and when open 2019 the event would be there. You can also add custom metadata with a date function and add dates for writing and events and then sort that in the outliner in chronologic order. You can also use collections as well. I have multiple articles on Scrivener and you can click on search and put in terms to search for.

Thank you, this looks to be the solution I was after. I will take some time to implement it, and I am sure I will have questions after.

If have two monitors open a scene and hit enter key will open as floating quick reference panel. Can click and open bookmarks. While scrivener is open on main screen can drag any file needed into document to add as bookmark. Can add from collections as well.
