After years in the trenches as a professional historian, I finally published my first novel. The Bittersweet Year is set in Canada and France during the Great War, and tells the story of a damaged soldier and his wife as they navigate their fraught marriage amid the Spanish Flu epidemic and the worst labour riots in Canadian history. Scrivener was my tool of choice throughout the long process, and it never let me down once. Bravo to Keith and crew!
Congratulations. I understand “the long process”!
Thanks–that’s very kind of you. I started the novel during the pandemic, but only now has it seen the light of day. I suppose the five-year gestation period may seem quite ordinary to veteran novelists, but to me it seemed like a lifetime. Fortunately, Scrivener places no limit on the number of new WIPs I keep in the binder!
I have had many not-quite novels on the go, and am yet to finish any.
A few years ago I did finish a long non-fiction book for which Scrivener was also essential. It took a long time too because I was working full-time and the research materials were a long way away.
Cheers,
Simon
Wonderful news! Congratulations!
Thanks MG! Very kind of you to comment.
