When I set the interface language of Scrivener to German, there is an inconsistency in the translation of one menu item:
View > Text Editing > Hide Markup
is translated as Markierung ausblenden (literally “Hide Marking” or “Hide Highlighting”), while
View > Text Editing > Display Markup
is translated as Markup einblenden.
I had some difficulty identifying the correct menu item to display markup again after hiding it, when I couldn’t find the name I was looking for.
Also, I understand markup to mean either italics, boldface, and underlining, or the code of a markup language such as HTML or Markdown, while in my case the menu item hides the formatted links to comments (and does not hide text markup). I therefore find markup a misleading name for what that menu item does, both in English and German. In German Markierung actually seems more fitting, as what is hidden is the marker of the links.
If I had to make a recommendation, I would choose “Hide/Show Comment Link Marker” in English and “Kommentarlink ausblenden/einblenden” in German.
