The total manuscript word count is being buggy. The outliner is showing 0 words for several documents. I didn’t reset anything and I’m positive there are close to 20k words missing from the count. (The document content is there.)

Additional info:
The missing word counts are tied with a change in icons. I’ve attached screenshots. Unfortunately, clicking on the title will change the icon back, but doesn’t restore the word count. Please note: every one of these documents contains words. Even the index card icons. Nothing was deleted.

I have not yet been able to replicate this, so I’d like to ask a few questions.
Does the word count change once the document is loaded into the editor? (i.e. not just clicked on in Outliner mode but actually selected from the binder and opened)
Does this occur each time you open the project?
Is the project synced with anything - either through ‘Sync with External Folder’ or in a dropbox folder or anything?

Is the project synced with anything - either through ‘Sync with External Folder’ or in a dropbox folder or anything?— No. I didn’t think to sync to Dropbox as part of the testing. (I complie at the end of my session and keep a word doc as my failsafe.)

More information: Other things I’ve checked. It’s always the same documents that are affected. I checked the section type and changed from “Structure-based” to “scene”. No change even if I close and reopen.
The word count at the bottom says 0, but when I hover over it, it’ll show me the accurate number of words. I took a screenshot for the whole manuscript. The bottom bar’s count is wrong and the hover count is correct.

Can you try a test for me? Create a new blank project and drag one of the affected documents into it. See if that causes the same problem. If it does, please send us that new project (with just the one document). If it doesn’t we’ll try something else.
It seems to be fine in the new project! So I’m assuming the original project file is corrupted somehow?
And because I can never leave well enough alone… I dragged in the rest of the chapter. The total count at the bottom is correct, but the count at the top doesn’t change until I close it out and reopen it.
Also experiencing incorrect word count in latest Windows beta. Overall word count displayed in status bar is wrong - but rollover and popup with details shows correct count.
It appears that this is an issue with some of the sheets within binder. When clicking on these individually, some will display correct count in status bar and popup - but others will display a correct count in the popup and zero words in the status bar.
I was having the same issue on two of the texts, the rest were fine. The two were also the biggest word counts, at 2410 and 2614 - the next largest was fine at 2197.
Copying and pasting the 2410 back into the text fixed it.
Copying and pasting the 2614 did not update the 0 word count. When I added another word, it updated.
So far, it’s holding even after closing and re-opening the document.
On reopening Scrivener (after today’s patch update), I have noticed that the pages which have an incorrect zero word count also show a blank page icon in the binder (even though they have text in them). When I click on these pages, the icon changes to the “document with text” icon but the word count remains incorrect. Just mentioning this in case it helps to track down the problem.
I don’t know if this relates to the first, reported issue in this thread, but it seems a good place to mention…
I have noticed that the word counts in the Project Statistics differ from the word count in the “quick look” on the tool bar by about 50%:
Is this a problem, or do I just have one or more settings not in sync which results in the differing word counts?

I’m not having that issue. Maybe it has something to do with what you have clicked off to compile?
I’ve noticed that this fixes it sometimes. I’ve tried adding a word like another poster mentioned and that will fix the count.
