It is really handy to have Synopsis and Notes content visible and updatable using the notes tab in the inspector sidebar. Is it possible to add the Footnotes and Comments data to the Notes tab in the same manner? Or something similar; custom inspector view?
This is the downside of Comments; they’re out of sight most of the time but I would really like to use them.
Hi
You know you can see a comment by hovering over it in the editor, right?
Otherwise, no. The inspector is not customizable. You can’t display notes and comments at once.
You can set custom shortcuts to switch faster from comments to notes (and vice versa) in the inspector. (Or use the pre-existing ones, they’re already there, set and ready.)

Totally hear you and I get it.
You can use inline comments and set them to not compile. It will then be visible at all times in the app.
Else it’s all an instant mouse click away, and a matter of focus. You can keep the focus of the Inspector on Comments. Mine is on Bookmarks while in writing mode, because that’s where the answers lie if I have a moment of hesitation. The rest is in my head.
