When I launched Scrivener for the very first time, I received the error, “Scrivener project file not found.” Please advise.
Create a new Project?
Hello PlanetVictorious, and welcome to the forum.
If this really is the first time Scrivener has ever been launched on this computer, you should not see that error at all — you should be taken straight to the New Project (Templates) window.
That message usually appears when Scrivener is set to reopen the last project on launch, but the project it’s trying to open has been moved, deleted, or is no longer accessible.
To resolve this:
-
Launch Scrivener.
-
When the error appears, dismiss it.
-
Go to File ▸ New Project to open the Templates window and create a new project.
Once you’ve successfully created and saved a project, quit and relaunch Scrivener. You should be taken directly to the new project you just saved, and the error should no longer appear.
