You have v. 2.9 and the licence is for v. 3…
When did you download the trial version? I would guess it was before v. 3 came out on 20/11/2017. You have three options:
-
If you want to, or for reasons of hardware and OS limitations have to stick with v. 2.9, go to literatureandlatte.com/legacy-download, and replace your existing copy with the new download—shortly after v. 3 was released, an slight update to 2.9 was made available which will accept v.3 serial numbers so that those of us who for whatever reason have to run both versions don’t continually have to validate our purchases;
-
On the other hand, as you have a licence for v. 3, you can simply download that and install it instead of v. 2.9, but make sure you go to Updating from Scrivener 2 to Scrivener 3: A Guide and download the guide to help you familiarise yourself with the changes.
-
Combine options 1 and 2 and run both if necessary.
The upgrade to v. 3 is definitely worth it if your computer can run MacOS 10.12 or 10.13. It won’t run on any earlier versions of MacOS
Hope that helps.
