Is it possible to permanently change default folder names?

Ciao!

I’ve been messing around with Scrivener for a week or so, and I like it, but each time I set up a new project, I change the “Research” folder to “Media” as the type of work I do will always require insertable media, but will never require research.

I know it doesn’t matter so much, as a name is just a name, but I’m a bit obsessive about naming conventions and hierarchies.

If there’s a way to make edits to the default templates to do so, that would be perfectly fine, or any sort of option or variable somewhere (even if it would need to be accessed by a compiler) or some such, I’m not overly concerned about the how so much as the ability to simply change it.

It’s definitely not a make-or-break concern, just one of those little things that some people obsess over.

You will find more detail on how to set up your own templates in §7.7 of the user manual, starting on page 51, but the basic concept is very simple for what you want to do. You can start with any of the built-in templates, or even start with Blank and make your own from scratch. From there, customise the settings of the project as you prefer. Change the name of the Research folder, choose whether you want Corkboard to show up when clicking on folders, which columns appear in the Outliner view—everything you do here, even stuff you type into files, and your compile settings, will be saved into the template. That in a nutshell is all we do to make the built-in templates. Everything about them are things you can do using the project window.

When you’re ready to save it, use the File/Save as Template… menu command, type in your details, choose an icon (or even make your own), and save it. You can now discard the project you used to create the template, or keep it around in case you think of things you’d like to update the main template with.

Thanks! I figured it would be via making new templates, but also figured I would toss out a quick ask before going that route, just in case.

Thanks for the confirmation!
