Is there a shortcut for adding a "new text?"

When I transfer my hand written ideas to Scrivener I have to add new texts for each idea. Is there a shortcut that allows me to add a new text instead of having to click the “+” button for each new text?

Cmd-N.

For future reference, the menus display shortcuts for all commands that have them. The New Text command is on the Project menu.

Thank you. I had searched but not seen that one. :open_mouth:

That is in fact such a commonly done thing, that when your cursor is in the binder, corkboard or outliner areas, the Return all by itself will make a new item. Cmd-N is a good reflex though, as it can be done from anywhere, even while writing in the editor.

The “new text on return” behaviour drives me insane because it makes typing synopses… challenging. So I turn it off in Scrivener>Preferences>Behaviour>Outliner.

YMMV.

That is exactly what I am doing, writing in the editor, and this short cut is just what I needed at this time

Except that it doesn’t work when you are actually writing in the editor.

Thank Heaven. Think about what that would be like…

I found this old text which lists all of Scrivener’s short cuts.
