Is there a way to extract images from Scrivener?

Hey, all. I’ve been using Scrivener since going back to school in September and it’s been a life saver because I’m usually very unorganized. You really have no idea.

I’m going to make a PowerPoint presentation that I want to organize and write in Scivener, but I need to know if there’s a way to extract images that I find images on the web and save in Scrivener so I can use them later in the PowerPoint presentation.

I tried dragging them out, but no luck.

Also, when’s the next update for the Windows version?

doogiet

I’m assuming you mean images you’ve saved into the binder so that they have little photo icons and look like thumbnails on a corkboard? If so you can just select the graphics (or any files for that matter) you wish to export and use File/Export/Files... to dump out the selected items.

If you mean you’ve imported the whole web page rather than just the picture, well that depends on how you imported it. If you use the dynamic web import, then yes, you should be able to just right-click on the graphic and copy it so you can paste it into Powerpoint. If you imported the site as a PDF or picture, then you can just export those as per the above suggestion.

I tried this, but I got “Errors…” and then a line that said “no files were exported.” Is this a glitch?

Well bummer, it appears there is a glitch here. That should be possible, which is why I just assumed it and advised you to use that method without trying it myself—but it appears now that I try, it is impossible due to this error window. In fact it seems only items in the Draft can be exported (so naturally anything that can’t be slotted into the draft cannot be exported).

So yeah, the only way I can think of right now to get your pictures out is to drop them all into an RTF file in the binder and then export that and open it in Word or something that will let you save the pictures out from the file. Terribly sorry for that.

When’s the next update due out? I also can’t seem to consistently highlight text when I drag over it…

I don’t know, but it should be fairly soon.
