John Steinbeck's Son on Writing

Thomas Steinbeck, son of John Steinbeck, is releasing a series of five short videos on the craft of writing, particularly novels. The first is already posted here:

He makes some interesting points, including a claim that today’s writers don’t need to be as descriptive of places as they once were. Today’s people have been more places.

One interesting quote from his father: “I don’t lie. I just remember big.”

He has a blog here:

Enjoy!

I totally agree with the fact that today’s authors don’t have to be as descriptive as the writers of the 20th century. Also, John Steinbeck is an amazing writer and I love Of Mice and Men.

The book you mentioned is one of my favorite stories about true friendship. It’s really touching. Powerful thing, strongly recommend to everyone.
