Scriv styles don’t get converted into Word styles

It works with LibreOffice.
I don’t use MSWord, but perhaps you simply didn’t check the box so that it does ?

Deft and humorous. Thank you for your astute explicatory missive - I had not really clocked the pre-set nature of Styles/ this because I used the default Novel Format which I now note is comprised of various Styles. Thanks to your heads-up I will proceed a la enlightenment.

For the Compiler to have the ability to override the Editor formatting is the entire point of the Compile command.
