keeping two macs in sync?

Hello,

I’m new to scrivener and was wondering if there was a simple way to keep all my work synchronized between my laptop and imac?

I was reading something about using automator to backup files to idisk, but I’m not really sure how to do that.

It is best to use the Backup Project To… feature to generate copies either into a network service like DropBox or MobileMe, or if your computers are on the same network, directly onto the new machine. Since the backup feature adds a timestamp to the project name, you can always be sure you are editing the latest copy. Some people like to use flash drives or external hard drives as well, rather than a network.

Due to the scale of a Scrivener project file, and how easy it is to inadvertently synchronise or copy an open project, this is the preferred method:

1. Select File/Backup Project To…
2. Navigate to your shared folder
3. Make sure the Backup as ZIP file option is selected at the bottom
4. Click Okay

At this point the steps differ depending on what method you are using. If you are using DropBox, keep an eye on the menu bar icon and make sure that the little blue activity notice goes away before shutting down your computer. However you get the files to you second computer, copy the latest zip file to your hard drive into your working area and use the resulting Scrivener project to work.

To transfer files back to the other computer, just repeat the above steps. This method has a side-effect of creating a folder full of session backups in zip format. Not only is it easy to transfer information, but you have your work backed up too.
