I have three related questions about Scrivener writing tools, dictionaries, and the like and would appreciate any information you can provide about any or all of them.
-
Are there any keyboard shortcuts for the various writing tools, such as dictionary.com?
-
Is there any way to change the shortcut for “Define” from the two-step Ctrl-G, Ctrl-F3 to something less cumbersome?
-
Is there any way to use other dictionary and thesaurus programs on my hard disk (Wordweb, the Sage, RHUD, Collins French-English, etc) directly in Scrivener? Some of them, like The Sage, have hot keys that work in other applications, but don’t work or work correctly in Scrivener? (Wordweb, for example, opens a window but does not transfer the word I’m trying to define into it.)
I like to use a lot of references–including specialized technical and bilingual dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.–when I’m writing and can’t find exactly the word I’m searching for, but if using them is too cumbersome–as they are when I have to go through several menu clicks or switch to another program–it interrupts the flow, when it doesn’t stop it altogether. Sometimes, for example, I’ll want to look up the same word in several references, and if I have to go through a series of procedures for each one, it’s maddening. In this respect, Word works better than Scrivener.
I’m using version 1.96 on Windows 10.
Thanks.
