Hello!
I bought Scriv 1 back in 2019 just before Scriv 3 was released. I love it and use it every day, and set up loads of different label colours plus icons to help me navigate through 8 separate books and two sets of notes I work on - all nice and bold and contrasting - it looks like an ice cream display! These books are all interconnected and so I constantly search them, update and amend them, sometimes for the whole lot, sometimes for a specific book, sometimes for specific sections. The colour schemes on the Labels makes this super easy. It also helps because Scriv’s Binder is a bit snatchy and so documents can be accidentally moved into other sections - no reverse! - so it is nice to be able to see “red” accidentally in “blue” or whatever when it happens.
I used to write procedure manuals and financial audit reports in industry and one of the hardest tasks is keeping track of drafts and different departments and the like, and colour coding really helps with this in a nice, simple and highly visible way. Paperwork very quickly becomes a mass of white pages with only the titles and the like to differentiate them.
Scrivener tries to help with this with its Labels, but when Scriv 3 was released I immediately noticed that these bold colours were now only placed as little circles at the end of the Binder titles, which is just too subtle and not easy to see - is there a reason for this?
Because of this, I have never used Scriv 3, even when I saw that you had improved it by enabling multiple documents to be opened - which was something I was asking for on here, way back then.
I constantly search in Scriv 1 and it is so easy to quickly find everything because of both my Label colour scheme and the way the Binder displays search results in V1, which seems to have also changed in V3.
Sometimes subtle doesn’t work - I have crappy eyes and a HUGE mass of documents now, so I want COLOUR! and I want it VISIBLE!!! Not little knobs tucked at the end with pastel background shades in between.
I periodically check V3 to see if there are any more improvements, but I guess the work is now done. Is the way the Labels show colour fixed as it is forever?
Thanks
Nick
