Laggy Scrolling Due to Text Scaling

Whilst I’ve raised this issue with the customer support team (still waiting to hear back, but it was only yesterday to be fair!) I thought I’d share it in the forums too and see if anyone else has the same problem or knows of a solution.

I recently moved onto a new PC in Windows 11 and opened up my current project only to find that when the text is scaled beyond the default 100% (my go to is 125%) the screen appears laggy and sluggish whenever I try to scroll through a page. I tried altering the font, thinking it might be that, but the effect remains at different scalings for different fonts depending on their own respective sizes. For instance, the font I originally was using at 125% only starts to cause lagginess when it is size 18 or above. Other fonts meanwhile cause lagginess at both smaller and larger font sizes.

Now I should mention that the other factor that has changed is I have a new 4k resolution monitor at 144hz, compared to the previous 1080p 60hz monitor I used previously. Furthermore, my general Windows display scaling is set to 225%, for legibility reasons obviously, and when I knock it down to say 100%, which of course is not practical, the lagginess does seem to disappear at least up to a certain point in terms of Scrivener’s scaling - it’s fine at 200%, but returns at 300%, again, all depending on font sizes. Hence, I’m pretty certain this lagginess is caused by some software issue to do with scaling compatibility between Scrivener’s scaling and font sizes and the display’s own scaling, but I’m obviously looking for some kind of solution to this problem if there is any.

Whilst I can work around it for now by simply using other larger fonts that are more legible at the same scaling, I have entire projects in smaller fonts that are now plagued with this lagginess unless I either change the fonts en masse (maybe there is quick way to do that?) or be forced to reduce the scaling to a level that strains my eyes to read it, which is naturally not ideal! Furthermore, I use Scrivener across Windows and my Macbook pro laptop, so increasing the font size of a project in Windows would cause it to appear large and ungainly on my smaller Mac screen, and so is probably not a practical workaround now that I think about it. Seems a shame then that I’ve upgraded my PC only for Scrivener to perform worse as a program! Any help with this curious development would be appreciated then.
