I’d offer my services for the German translation, too.
A friend of mine is going to write a novel, but unfortunately he doesn’t understand even a single word of English, so Scrivener is not an option for him. It would be if it were localized.
I can speak Hill Billy pretty fluent if ya need some tranlsation to “git her done”
The only words I understand are “git her done”, because that’s what Larry the Cable Guy likes to say (I know that because I have watched Cars a gazillion times). As for the rest… not a glimpse.
I’m not from an English-speaking country, so English is not my mother-tongue. So please try to answer in plain English, which I have a chance to understand 
Since this thread started in 2006, I don’t know if the few folks offering their help for a French translation are still available to do so. Add me on the list of potential translators, and contact me if you need me even if you wouldn’t have seen me in the forums for months. French is my native and primary language and my skills are up to the task.

Same for me, Keith. I am still available for a Spanish translation. The later the better, as I plan to buy a Mac soon and finally get my own copy of Scrivener.

I have just started walking the scrivener’s path and most say… I am loving it. Even though I am still in my trial period, I am already saving up my few extra pennies for scrivener.

I am a Mexican oceanographer and avid self-taught non-paid (ha) writer that was able to get a mac (finally) a few months ago.
I do not have to say how useful scrivener would have resulted during does hard graduate years. But rest assure that scrivener will be a well used piece of software when I --at last-- start a Behavioural Ecology Masters… but I digress (as I tend to).
This last year or two, mac has infected Mexico at an incredible rate, when I first realize I liked mac better, almost everyone said I was crazy; now they say I was crazy to take so long to save-up the cash to buy it. I do believe there is a place in Mexico for scrivener. Now this forum is about making scrivener localized and I agree and offer my help --if a non-programmer can help-- in the Spanish version (for what I have been reading, that makes two: Pablo and me). For it is my native language and I have the English knowledge to help.
But I also want to throw, what could be consider, my wish to the air, for I do not need a Spanish version of the software, I am to accustom to using English written software. The thing is --and I am fully aware that I may have not found the right forum or that this might already exist for I am to green still in scrivener-- that a localized software should also provide an spelling dictionary for each countries language. I have no idea how difficult this may be to do but thought it would be a great thing to add. Not many softwares offer dictionaries and the ones that do, usually are not very good. But I have seen that you have quite a crowd that is willing to help you and that could make for a good team for every language…

great idea to localize, for it will open many doors for scrivener world wide.
but to have a spelling check in different languages, I know from experience, opens more.
scrivener is the greatest i have used… worth FAR MORE than what you charge, thank you for considering us, small budget dreamers.
Fortunately, perhaps, OS X has its own spellchecking service. No need to reinvent the wheel over and over again.
And, since we are at it again, let me quote Cato: Moreover, I advise that Scrivener must be translated.

Just a reminder… You have my full help and service when the translations start for the Turkish version. After that I am ready to put Scrivener anouncements on my own literature sites in Turkish with over 10.000 amateur author members. (I’m sure at least a few of them uses Mac’s!) (www.izedebiyat.com)
Thanks Yardimli! Much appreciated (and thanks to everyone else who has volunteered, too). We’re waiting until 2.0 is near completion, and then we’re going to localise that. With all of the changes coming to the interface and menus, it would be a waste of everyone’s time to translate 1.0 when so much would need re-doing for 2.0. But we hope to get 2.0 localised fairly early in its lifespan.

+1 for the german translation. I do have some experience with wordings for web/application-interfaces but volunteer anyway.
We could start a little Google Wave for this and discuss the finer details ad nauseaum 
Personally I don’t care for localisations but of course they would increase international sales.
So +/-0 for German from me BUT -10000 if “snippets” become “Schnipsel”!
