Last text block selected does not compile

I am working on a non-fiction book with a hierarchical structure. I have drafted the first third of the book and with the rest in outline and am compiling the first third to check I have the book set up right. I have got most of the things I need sorted out., but for some reason the last selected text block is not compiling. I get the text block title and number, but none of the actual text. Just a three asterisk end marker.

I have tried a number of the suggestions from the forum, but none work. The text block is definitely inside the manuscript and selected in the preview. A bit lost what to try next.

Any ideas?

Hi.
Check that that last document is assigned to the same section type as the previous ones that compile properly.

That is set in the inspector, metadata, general metadata.

. . . . . . . .

If all your documents are set for “Structure-Based”, then the issue might very well come from your binder structure.
Is that last document child of a folder or of another document? Is it a folder rather than a document? Is that state unique to it? (Or are other documents not compiling right but you only noticed for the last one?) If so, then you’ll have to tweak either the Structure-Based section types correspondance, the assignation in the compiler, or the compile format you are using. Let us know.

. . . . . . .

Else : compile for print is a tad buggy and sometimes leaves out bits at compile. If that is the format you are compiling to, use PDF instead. (And later print the PDF if you have to. It is also a good way to preview without wasting ink and paper.)
