Launched Scrivener, suggested updating, now won't launch

I launched Scrivener (1.5.1) tonight, and immediately was greeting with a 1.5.2 update window. I selected Install Now, and once it got to the process of updating, the process seem to be stuck, indicating that it was updating, and the progress bar was moving, but it never got anywhere. After more than 5 minutes of waiting for it to finish, I did a “Force Quit” and tried relaunching. Now I get a message saying that “You cannot open the application “Scrivener.app” because it is not supported on this architecture.”

Should I trash this one, download the current full version from the site, and use my SN to start all over? I’m still running 10.5.8 on my iMac.

Hello Michael,

That sounds like a good plan. Just re-install a clean 1.52 after trashing your current version. You will require your user name and Scrivener serial number to register, but just email me directly at sales AT literatureandlatte DOT com if you no-longer have your order confirmation email.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

All the best,
David

To add the technical side of things to David’s help with the serial, this sounds like a download problem. It sounds as though it half-downloaded, so that then when you re-launched it didn’t work properly - I had this happen to one other user to day, too. To fix, just go to the product page - literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.html - and click on “Download Now”, to re-download and re-install. It’s unlikely that you will need to re-enter your serial number and user name, as that is stored outside of the program itself, but if you do need them, as David says, just drop him a line.

Hope that helps.
All the best,
Keith

I downloaded the re-installed, and it activated without a hitch - everything works fine now. Appreciate the assistance.

Michael

Great, glad it’s working!
All the best,
Keith
