Left document margin visually distinguishable from text area

Often I try to select text starting directly on the leftmost side of the text. But when I click left of the text and drag down no text was selected.

The problem is that I didn’t start the selection within the text area. But the text area it’s not really distinguishable from the “margin” area between it and the outline view where the binder is shown.

Maybe a thin line or a different background colour showing where this margin area exactly is would be a good addition to Scrivener.

Don’t misunderstand, it’s absolutely necessary that there is a margin, I wouldn’t want the text to begin directly beside the binder.

Unfortunately this is a limitation of the OS X text system - Scrivener uses the text system’s text padding feature, but that does nothing when you click on it. Scrivener 2.0 has an optional page view, though, and the margins of that are clickable (because the page view is a rather different set up).

All the best,
Keith
