When I split one scene into two, the word count from the split scene counted as words written that day. I really like seeing my progress, so I wish it wouldn’t do that… now I have to remember how much to subtract from today’s total.
I do really appreciate that I can see how much I wrote even when I remove scenes entirely (so my net word count on the book overall went down). Really helps my motivation as I work on a second draft where I’m spending more time rewriting pointlessly long scenes into something better. When I wasn’t using Scrivener for this, I found it really demotivating to see myself “delete” “progress” when editing. It still is a little bit, but much better.
