Just call me Lord of the Nits, lol. Another minor annoyance that annoys me many times a day…
The drop-down list of styles on the ribbon behaves differently depending on where and how you click it.
A. If you click anywhere in the box except the drop-down triangle/arrow on the right, the list drops down and immediately disappears again.
B. If you click on the drop-down triangle/arrow on the right, the list drops down and remains visible, allowing you to select a style from the list.
C. If you click-and-hold anywhere in the box, including the drop-down triangle/arrow on the right, the list drops down and stays visible, allowing you (with the mouse button held down) to select a style from the list by pointing to it and releasing the mouse button, at which point the list disappears again whether you selected a style from the list or not.
I see no good reason for A. It requires additional code (to differentiate it from B) only to serve no function other than tease users, force them to click again (either on the teeny little arrow or by holding down the mouse button), breaking their concentration and their flow.
No worthwhile functionality would be lost by eliminating A and making the list drop down and remain visible by simply clicking anywhere in the box.
