[LH4361] Printing problem

I’ve run into a problem when trying to print a document in version 2.9.9.8 Beta (984254) 64-bit. If in the previous time I have used the Windows print function in another program to turn a document into a PDF, then if I try to print something out of Scrivener it will only let me turn it into a PDF. In order to print the document I either have to turn it into a PDF or copy the text into Word and print from either of those. It’s annoying.

RC8 prints fine for me, so this might be a problem with your printer setup.

See this thread. It will be fixed in RC9. [url][LH4631] BUG: RC 8 (also 6 & 7) - unable to change the printer for File/Print Current Document - #2 by Jestar]

This has not been fixed in 2.9.9.9, unfortunately. Printing directly (Print current document function) to a local (network connected) laserjet printer will not produce a printed document.

As @Jestar and @MFS600 report, to produce a printed document, one must print the current document to pdf first, then print the pdf output. Doing so will print the document on the same exact printer that fails for Scrivener. Attempting to print directly fails (nothing comes out, and no error is reported to give any indication why this did not work).

I am on 2.9.9.9 HiDPI, windows 10 (2004), all latest patches. Printer is an HP LJ 277dw on network. Printer works fine with all other applications from the same machines, and I am able to confirm this issue on both of my machines that I have 2.9.9.9 on (both machines are Win 10 2004)…

I’m able to print to whatever printer I point Scrivener at now, so it seems fixed for me. I do a Ctrl-P within a document and select the printer I want. It works the same with File->Print Preview then click the printer icon to bring up the Windows printer dialog. I do not have PDF as my default printer - I have a network shared printer as my default.

It prints fine for me and I have networked printers.
