Line breaking/Text wrapping for Korean language

Hello. I am a Korean Scrivener user, and I am having a problem with line breaking/text wrapping for the Korean language.

Unlike English, Korean language line breaks do not use hyphenation, nor is broken down by words.
Instead, line break happens letter by letter.

Here is an example in english.

I am a Korean Scrivener user, and I need help with line breaking.

Let’s say we need to go to the next line in between the word ‘need’.

Currently, Scrivener breaks it like this.

**I am a Korean Scrivener user, and I **
need help with line breaking.

However, for Korean and most Asian languages it goes down letter by letter, so.

I am a Korean Scrivener user, and I ne
ed help with line breaking.

The word can be split letter by letter.

We were actually able to do this in legacy versions ago, but on Scrivener 3 it changed and is in its current state.

It is very, VERY annoying.
And it’s not just me that thinks so. There are many writers that actually quit using Scrivener just because of this one problem.
It is fine for the Korean word to be cut off in the middle, but it is NOT fine if the entire word just teleports to the next line and leaving a huge empty space.
Readers hate it. Writers hate it. It is unbearable.

There are no options to enable/disable the current line breaking option, however.
You cannot even download old versions to fix this problem.

Please make an option to do so, or revert back to the old version’s line breaking style.
I searched the forum and found 2021 topics on this issue, but nothing has been solved.

Most Word programs such as MS Word has this function enabled, and it is really crucial for our language.

I hope this problem is handled urgently in future updates.

As a Korean user, I ABSOLUTED agree with you. Actually I searched for alternative programs last night too…

It would be nice if Scrivener development would give Asian users a correct update, anyway, I have some tips for you to try before that day…
I raised the text zoom level of the main editor and reduced the font size. And choose ‘justify’ option for text alignment in the format. Since the characters are smaller, and the spaces at the end of each line are scattered throughout the whole line, there seems to be less space visually. It’s not satisfied, but looks a little bit better.

I really agree with you. Please put in an option to wrap character by character.

It existed during Scrivener 1, but I wonder why it disappeared.
I use several writing apps on Windows, but Scrivener is almost the only one that lacks this option. :disappointed_relieved:
