The ability to link (both internally and externally) to a document in the Binder is super wonderful.
It would be nice if there were a similar way to link to saved search collections, or even just to a search, e.g. something like x-scrivener-item:///[Path]/Untitled.scriv?search=my%20search%20terms&in=text&in=keywords&options=draft_only
(Obviously a comparable format for internal links would be great too.)
That way I could organize/manage/manipulate my saved search collections in my own way and they’d “just work”.
That’s my feature request for the day. Thoughts?
I can’t speak for Keith, but Collections and Saved Searches aren’t real “entities” in the same way that Binder items are. They’re really just a different way to view that group of items. There’s no item to link to, really. So enabling this would require a pretty significant change to how Collections are created and stored.
I certainly have respect for how much under-the-hood-work can be involved in things like that. Thanks for the consideration of the idea!
I wonder though: When I click on a Collection, or on a Saved Search, that one click triggers a variety of actions under the hood and the result of those actions is the current behavior. Is there a way that when an external link comes in, that path of actions (with whatever parameters are needed and saved in the link) could be executed?
Just brainstorming, ignorantly
The problem with working with people like me that have software backgrounds is that we always have naive and ignorant ideas of how you could make things work - sorry about that.
The good thing though, is that I have a lot of respect for hidden complexity, and I’m super fine with just accepting your answer. Thanks again for the consideration!
