I remember when all these let’s make Gnome/ KDE look like Mac or Windows were all the rage, at the turn of the century or thereabouts.

I have lately read some articles from people who have just tried or switched to Linux and it’s amusing to see how exciting OS it is for them even though it’s over 30 years old. Makes old farts like me to smile when they get excited about the command line

And Ubuntu means “I can’t configure Debian”.

It’s nice to see that someone in the Linux world is trying to replicate the look of the Mac that we Mac users are trying to make Apple to reconsider.

Would be funny if they actually succeed and come up with a better implementation. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That’s the thing. I don’t know if I would go so far as to say that the idea is a bad one, on paper it sounds kind of cool—it’s the execution of it that leaves me scrambling for the system settings to disable as much of it as I can.

I say that, but the one animated mock-up I saw on the page seemed to have zero functional purpose at all. I’m sure someone just put their tech demo up to show off, but why have a lens over your text that does nothing except make it harder to read the text. That is where it borders on parody.
