Primarily for those users who jumped ship and still miss Litte Snitch. Oh, and it’s free:
I switched to use LuLu on macOS but I recognise that Little Snitch is a masterpiece of UI design, the way it handles rule management and visualises the network activity is best-in-class. I use a lot of Linux systems for my research systems (where the Linux kernel affords orders of magnitude better timing fidelity than macOS) so may give this a go when I get time, thanks for the heads up!
I also use LuLu on MacOS (decided to not pay for a Little Snitch upgrade; though I still have MicroSnitch.) I also use a few of the LuLu dev’s other free bits.
Very interesting! I’ll have to give it a try once the OS updates though, as it requires a newer kernel version than Debian-stable uses.
I’ve been using OpenSnitch, which will fall back to the older methods of monitoring the network stack if necessary. It offers a familiar way of handling setup, to anyone that has used Little Snitch. You’ll get a warning when an attempted connection is made, and can build a rule on the spot or defer to later. Overall the interface is a bit more technical looking, but that doesn’t bother me.
