Mac key not working, and cannot contact support

I got the windows key (bought the bundle), that one worked. My mac key that i paid for though will not work at all. I dont think it was ever activated. I contacted Paddle, then after a good week or 2 of back and fourth, they said they were not offical support. I go to the website, attempt to put my ticket in and I get an email saying “I’m sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It’s attached below.” I am tired of this. I just want to be able to sue the thing I paid for.

Literature and Latte won’t handle license queries here.

See https://www.literatureandlatte.com/learn-and-support

They also have a “contact us” service linked from https://www.literatureandlatte.com/learn-and-support

Sorry, I should have said I am having a problem with getting in contact with support. That is my main issue, not the key not working. It’s been stressful.

if the email is not working or their reply is not erroneously in your junk spam folder then use the web form to contact them linked from the “contact us” on the web url i gave you. click on “get in touch”.

If @rms’s advice doesn’t help, message me with the email address you used and I’ll have a look at our queue.

Hi @kewms , I have the same problem. I’m using Scrivener for work and can’t log in (new computer). The Activation website is not responding. I wrote support already, but can’t reach them. I just joined the forums, and, to my disgrace, don’t see where exactly I can drop you a private message. Any help? Thank you so much!

See above for how to use the “get in touch” service which bypasses email. Part of their standard process.

Knowing the way @kewms works, you’ll likely get a message to send a private message here, but perhaps to help them, best to use their standard process.

Thanks for your reply, rms!
I hope your own key-related troubles are resolved by now.

Unfortunately, the get in touch-service is the one that I keep getting error messages from, and my email wasn’t answered yet. The activation website is still down / not available.
I’ve had some trouble with seemingly invalid activations before, but this time I can’t seem to reach anyone. I feel a little bad about stressing the fine folks here, but unfortunately I need to access Scrivener for work related matters.

Except that it doesn’t, it was poorly designed and actually uses email to send the message to the help desk rather than communicating with it directly, and is thus susceptible to email-related errors such as what was reported.

Just click on any moderator’s avatar (you can tell who a moderator is by the shield icon beside their name), and from there you’ll see a big “Message” button. That will start a private conversation.

Thanks, AmberV, for clarifying.
Unfortunately, I continue to not exactly cover myself with glory here, but I just don’t see that Message icon. I was searching for a PM-button of sorts (as I know them from other forums), but cannot find it. Not when I click a mods Avatar, nor their name. I thought it might be, because I’m too new a member here and might not have the rights to PM anyone, yet…

A-ha, yes that is indeed the problem. Brand new accounts need to prove themselves with a few indicators that help separate humans from bots (PM spam is a really annoying way to subvert normal detection).

Give it another try, I’ve bumped your account to a standard level.

Thank you! I’ve contacted kewms now. Hopefully, I can get back into Scrivener soon. The esellerate-site still isn’t responding.

Oh! You need to upgrade your software in that case. We haven’t done business with eSellerate since 2019, shortly before they went out of business. The company that bought them out recently shut down their legacy servers entirely, so the software has nothing to connect with.

Good to know. Hard to imagine a poorly designed service from Literature & Latte!

Well! We asked for it a certain way, and provided documentation, but some wires must have been crossed somewhere and by the time we noticed it was too late. It worked fine for a number of years, but changes made to the help desk software has made it less reliable. It’s something we’ll have to get fixed one way or another at this point!

I cannot seem to dm you, and someone else in this thread said they had the same problem (apparently it is being a new account).

Ah, that certainly explains a lot… :exploding_head::joy:

I’ve downloaded the 3.2.3 trial and expected to log in with my data, but instead it seems to… just work? When I check in “About Scrivener” I don’t see any mentions of trials. I also can “Deactivate License”, so maybe the program just found my data itself, somehow? Seems a little too fortunate, but I also can’t find place where I can activate it or type my serial number in…

That’s all exactly how it should work. You shouldn’t have to reactivate unless something goes wrong.
