Suppose I have chapters and research items in the left nav panel.
If I resize the panes between the Editor, Notes and Outline, that resizing applies to ALL items in the left nav as I toggle between items. I would like it if Scrivener maintained the panel-position settings PER ITEM in the left nav so when I jump back to a chapter or research item, the panels are arranged how I want them for that item.
This would require a significant change to the project format. Right now, the interface settings are stored in a completely separate file from the index used to build the BInder.
It would also require a change across all three platforms – MacOS, iOS, and Windows – because all three would have to be able to handle the new project format, but each of them has its own display engine.
So I’m not going to say this is impossible, but it’s highly unlikely. In the meantime, you might have a look at the saved layout functionality.
