My issue has been that when exporting from Scrivener to Word, all the superscripts and subscripts come out in an unreadably small font. (There are some equations in what I have been writing.) For anyone else that has the problem, I have found out how to fix it in Word.
1. | Use ctrl-D on a superscript to see what you’ve got; it should open a dialog box in the Font tab, and Subscript should be the only thing checked. Note the font size, then close the dialog box. | |
---|---|---|
2. | From the Edit menu choose Find… > Advanced Find and Replace… . Make sure you’re in the Find tab. | |
3. | Clear the text from the Find what: area. | |
4. | Click the little v in the lower left to get the rest of the dialog box. | |
5. | Click No Formatting. | |
6. | From the Format pulldown menu, choose Font…. | |
7. | Uncheck everything except superscript (or subscript) | |
8. | Put 8 in the Size: field | |
9. | Click OK. | |
10. | Back in the Find and Replace dialog, choose the Replace tab. Important: Click in the Replace With: field, or you’ll be changing the Find characteristics. | |
⁃ | If you are doing subscripts instead of superscripts, click the Advanced tab, and in the Position: area choose Lowered. This will set By: to 3pt. | |
11. | Got through all the same steps that you went through for the Find tab, but entered the desired font size. | |
12. | Check that the Format: information under Find what: and Replace what: looks correct—at least, as much as you can see of it. | |
13. | Click Find Next to and check that it seems to find the correct thing. | |
14. | If everything still seems correct, press Replace All, Then when it asks to do it again from the beginning, click Yes. |
This solution is based on Superscript issue on Compile issue - #10 by xiamenese, which kept almost working for me. The details I’ve added are probably obvious to expert Word users.
