I have made a mess, hope someone can help.
I have a novel in progress with several versions, call them Andy1, Andy2, etc. After while, I started renaming this project. There’s a back up for each one. In fact, it’s hard to keep them all straight now. I’m sure I haven’t adequately explained how complicated this is to manage but explaining it more fully would discourage anyone from helping me. I hope you get the idea. I thought of merging manuscripts with the same basic name but I can’t figure out how to do that even.
This would add the content of the imported project in a new binder folder, in the project you were at the time.
You may also have projects side by side and drag documents (files or folders) from one binder to another. (It creates a clone in the project in which you drop it. Leaving the original/source project unchanged.)
You asked how to do it, I answered.
This said, I’m not sure that in your current state it is the best of solutions.
Perhaps it would be better for you to sort your projects/versions to a new clean folder, renaming them properly, using save as
.
Keep the originals (the versions which currently confuse you) for a while and once you’ve confirmed that for sure all is now fine and easily identifiable, get the originals out of your way.
I agree with Vincent, but consider giving each import a unique label color so at a glance know its origin and label with keyword for files from each origin project allows you to use label color or keyword to sort/ organize.
Thanks for the input. My main goal is to clear the clutter, to get the current project at the top of the list when I open scrivener.
Thank you for your reply. I’m going to give your suggestions a try.
To do that all you need to do is favorite the current project.
This or simply load your project(s) once and it’ll (they’ll) go back to the top of the list. (…?)
You may even, more drastically, clear the list first. (Bottom of the list ⮚ clear.)
Surely that’s not what you first meant by “a mess”. So messy that you thought that should you fully describe it no one would want to help you… ??
Don’t be shy, if there is more to it. It would take a hell of a lot to have everyone scared away.
(I don’t think it is even possible.)
