Minimum Requirements?

Hi everyone. I’ve just bought a used Mac online to refurbish and had hoped to eventually use it for all of my creative things, but I’m struggling to find minimum requirements listed anywhere. It’s a 2009 21.5" iMac. It has no harddrive currently, but based on what I’ve read, I believe it can run El Capitan without patches? It has 4GB RAM currently, which I intend to upgrade, and a 3.06GhZ processor. - So I’m not too worried about the specs, but can any versions of Scrivener still run on El Capitan? I’m pretty good with computers in general, but this will be my first Mac, so just presume I know nothing.

On the page to download for Mac OS, the latest version requires Mac os 10.12 or higher.

But if you click the “release notes” link, you can find the last 2.x version, which will run on 10.11. Do check once you have it running to see if you can upgrade to 10.12 though; version 3 is pretty nifty.

Other than that, there aren’t any system requirements that I’m aware of. Scrivener isn’t exactly a resource hog under most use cases.

Ahh, thankyou. Should have seen that really, but sadly not. I think I remember reading something about being able to install Sierra with a patch, so I might also look into that.

Edit: Huh. Looked it up and turns out a late 2009 will run Sierra unpatched after all. So I’m good for version 3, I think.
