Missing custom highlighter colors

This is subtle, but one of my students found it. If you add a custom highlighter color by adding it to the color tray, then dragging it to the Scrivener palette, it shows on the list under Format, Highlight. However, if you do it via the following method, the new color will show up on the palette, but not in the Format, Highlight list.

Here’s what I did.

  1. Format, Highlight, Show Colors.
  2. Clicked on the crayon box and chose Teal.
  3. Clicked on the color palette and chose Scrivener from the drop-down.
  4. Dragged the Teal color from the large color box at the top (next to the magnifying glass) to the palette list and named the new color Test1. Closed the color box. [see attached photo]

  5. Clicked on Format, Highlight to see new color in list, but it wasn’t there. [see attached photo]

When I went back and did the same procedure for color Test2, but added the lavender color to the color tray and then dragged it from the color tray in step 4, it showed up just fine in step 5.

I hope that’s clear. Thanks, Gwen!

Hi Gwen,

This is actually intended behaviour. Only colours from the colour tray at the bottom get added to the bottom of the menus. The Scrivener palette is there just so that you can add meaningful names to the colours that appear in the menus.

I can see how it might be confusing, though, so will look into allowing colours from either area to be available in the menus.

Hope that helps.

All the best,
Keith

Thanks, Keith! I’ll pass it on.
